The consortium UNICA, Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) and Brussels Education Services (BES) submitted last year a project in the framework of EAC 02/07 Public Open Tender Call for Tender Information Project on Higher Education Reform II (Lisbon Strategy and Bologna Process). This project was running from November 1st 2007 to October 31st 2008. The Bologna HE Reform II Project consists in assisting institutional implementation of the Bologna process and Lisbon strategy reforms, through materials, case studies and training seminars. These materials, developed in part out of European projects, included those supported by the Commission, are designed to be used by official national Bologna Experts, special categories such as: Institutions’ Leadership, Institutional Bologna Coordinators, Teachers, Student Unions, Policy Makers and other interested parties. As for the geographical scope of the project, the project is expected to cover all Socrates countries.
Youth Agora's contribution Especially with respect to the second goal, Youth Agora supported this project by developing an online Platform, a virtual community for the Bologna Experts.
The Bologna Expert Identity System allows Bologna Experts to create a personal Higher Education Reform Profile. It allows them to find and contact other Higher Education Reform members. Members can be grouped according e.g. their country, their expert fields or their function. It will allow the community to work as a pool of expertise and it will facilitate communication and information exchange. The Bologna Expert Identity is a unique personal Identity. It allows members to easily register to the 'Supernova', the Central HE Reform Information Portal and to the 'Satellites', the HE Reform conference websites. Their Identity profile will automatically be recognized. This means the Experts only need to create an account once, which they can use for ALL related websites within this Supernova! The Identity contains the standard contact information, a bibliography and information about the expert fields or role of the HE Reform members.
The Supernova is the central information portal that allows the experts to stay informed about the latest news, the upcoming events, the useful documents and presentations in the field of the HE Reform Process. A second aim of the Supernova is to empower the sense of community and enhancing the collaboration between those involved in the HE Reform Process. Identity members can log in to the Supernova with their Unique Identity account. Their profile and their expert fields will then automatically be recognized. They can easily find useful documents and presentations and start a discussion by creating their own blog.
The Satellite is a website template that can be used by all conference organizers in the field of the Higher Education Reform Process. It is supported by a popular open source content management system, packed with hundreds of features that ordinary, non technical people can update in an extremely intuitive way. This website template can be installed and customized in a few minutes in order to become a useful conference website, fulfilling all the needs of the visiting Experts. Supporting documents that allow conference organizers to customize e.g colors and pictures and change the content towards their own needs are available. Experts can register to the Bologna Satellite with their unique Bologna Identity and their profile will automatically be recognized.
